Best eSIM for the UAE

The UAE has excellent coverage on its two networks, e& (formerly Etisalat) and du, across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the highways between them. Travel eSIMs cost more here than in most countries, and voice and video calls on WhatsApp and FaceTime are restricted on local networks, so it pays to choose carefully.

At a glance

  • Cheapest we found: Nomad UAE — $18.50 for 10 GB / 30 days on du
  • On e&: Airalo UAE — $20, on the larger network, plus Menalink if you’re adding Oman, Qatar or Saudi Arabia
  • Best for unlimited data: Holafly, which sells it as a Dubai eSIM — from $27.90 for 7 days, but hotspot is capped at about 500 MB–1 GB a day
  • Also worth comparing: Saily UAE plans
  • No-account option: Talisim — $29 on du, the most expensive plan we checked here

Prices we checked

10 GB of data for 30 days, from each provider’s own website on 17 October 2026.

Provider Price Networks
Nomad $18.50 du
Airalo $20.00 e&
Talisim $29.00 du

Holafly sells unlimited data instead: $27.90 for 7 days or $50.50 for 15 days.

Network notes

e& and du both cover the cities, the main highways and most of the desert roads you’re likely to drive, with 5G across most of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. e& is the larger network, and the one to prefer for remote mountain and desert areas if a plan gives you the choice.

Calls on WhatsApp and FaceTime

Voice and video calls on WhatsApp, FaceTime and some other apps are restricted on UAE networks and Wi-Fi. Messaging works fine. Approved apps such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Botim work for calls.

Some travel eSIMs route your data out through another country, and calls may work on those. Don’t count on it, and don’t rely on a VPN — using one to get around the rules can break UAE law.

Practical connectivity tips

  • Install before you land. Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports have free Wi-Fi, but you’ll want data for a taxi or the metro.
  • Apps you’ll want online: Careem and Uber (rides), RTA Dubai and the nol Pay app (metro and buses), Talabat (food), and Google Maps.
  • Stopovers: for a one- or two-day layover, a small plan or a day pass is plenty.

Watch out for

  • Travel eSIM prices are high in the UAE. A 10 GB plan can cost two to three times what it does in Europe, so compare before you buy.
  • Day trips to Oman (Musandam, or Al Buraimi from Al Ain) need a plan that covers Oman too.
  • Desert safaris deep in the dunes can lose signal. Your guide will have a radio.
