Best eSIM for Morocco
Morocco has three networks — Maroc Telecom, Orange and inwi — with good 4G in Marrakech, Fes, Casablanca, Tangier and along the coast. Coverage gets patchier in the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara. Travel eSIMs cost more than in Europe but less than in much of Africa.

Network notes
Maroc Telecom has the best coverage, especially in rural areas, the mountains and the south. Orange and inwi are strong in cities and along the main roads.
All the plans we checked — Talisim, Nomad and Airalo — use Orange. That’s fine for the cities, the coast and the main routes. For trekking in the High Atlas or a night in the desert near Merzouga or Zagora, expect weak signal or none.
Practical connectivity tips
- Install before you land. You’ll want data for directions in the medina and to agree a taxi price.
- Apps you’ll want online: Google Maps or Maps.me (offline maps are essential in the medinas), the ONCF app (trains, including the Al Boraq high-speed line), and Uber, which returned in late 2025 and runs in Casablanca, Marrakech, Rabat, Agadir and Tangier. Ride-hailing still has no legal framework in Morocco, so this can change.
- Medinas in Fes and Marrakech have narrow lanes where GPS drifts. Offline maps and a pinned riad location help.
- Petit taxis are the norm in cities. Agree the fare or ask for the meter.
Watch out for
- Drones are confiscated at customs without prior permission.
- The Sahara and the Atlas have long stretches without signal.
- Day trips to Ceuta or Melilla are Spain, not Morocco, and need a plan that covers Spain.
