Best eSIM for the Netherlands
The Netherlands has some of the best mobile coverage in Europe. KPN, VodafoneZiggo and Odido (formerly T-Mobile) all cover the whole country, which is small and flat. Any decent travel eSIM will work well here, so pick on price and on whether you're visiting other countries too.

At a glance
- Budget pick: Talisim — $8.56 for 10 GB / 30 days on KPN and Vodafone, with no account needed
- Best for the Netherlands plus Belgium, Germany or France: Airalo Eurolink
- For security-minded travellers: Saily — built-in ad and tracker blocking on its eSIM data, a good reason to use mobile data instead of café and hotel Wi-Fi
- Best for unlimited data: Holafly Netherlands — from $27.50 for 7 days, but hotspot is capped at about 500 MB–1 GB a day

Network notes
All three networks are excellent. KPN and Odido trade the top spot in independent tests, with VodafoneZiggo close behind, and all three have 5G in the cities. Indoor coverage in Amsterdam’s old canal houses can be weaker, but outdoors and on trains you’ll rarely lose signal.
Practical connectivity tips
- Install before you land. Schiphol has free Wi-Fi, but you’ll want data for the train into the city.
- Apps you’ll want online: NS (trains), 9292 (all public transport), GVB (Amsterdam), Uber and Bolt, and Google Maps.
- Paying for transport: you can tap a contactless bank card or phone wallet on trains, trams, buses and metros (OVpay), so you don’t need a local transport card.
- Cycling with a phone mount: navigation uses little data, but keep offline maps as a backup.
Watch out for
- The Caribbean Netherlands — Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba — are not covered by Netherlands plans. Neither are Aruba, Curaçao or Sint Maarten.
- Day trips to Belgium or Germany need a plan that covers those countries too. A Europe plan is the simple answer.
- Hotel Wi-Fi is usually fine, but your eSIM will often be faster.
